Welcome to the brand new site

As you may have heard, Ning is shutting down its free service in the coming weeks. So I’m in the process of re-building this site, bit by by. For now, you can still find the old site at http://nextnewsroom.ning.com. I’ve imported the old profiles and I’m in the process of moving over the content. So bear with me as I get things up and running again.

Interesting that you are leaving Ning cause they are no longer free… meaning of course, you do not want to pay.
Isn’t the problem with news, that people want it for free?
Interestingly, you are just like everyone else.
In fact, I would pay Ning something, but not what they’re asking. I’ve been paying $5 a month for the “free” service to use my own URL. I’d pay up to $10 per month, but they want at least $20 per month.
As for the new site, I’m paying just that, about $5 per moth for hosting. And my time for getting this up and running, which is worth something.
And finally, people never paid for the news. But that’s a whole different issue, and one I’ve addressed here:

Ok. I can certainly understand. But, you had not really made that clear. You were leaving because it was no longer free, NOT because they were charging a rate you didn’t want to pay.
It does mean different things.
I also read the link you advised. It was interesting. As were all the comments and links that they had as well. Spent several hours reading.
Thanks, and good luck.
@jc: Fair enough. I’ve been referring to the end of free service, which is what they’re doing. But I would pay a bit more.
And thanks for reading the other post. Hope you continue to chime in here with your thoughts and ideas.
